Primary Role: This person is Wisconsin certified and trained to perform asbestos abatement activities,  under the direct supervision of a certified supervisor, including but not limited to setting up containment, repairs, removal, encapsulation, enclosure, loading out or disposal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) from a building.  Perform services as assigned, following company and State regulated guidelines. Communicate with crew chief to make sure all customer needs are met. Support crew chief and other production personnel, as needed. Clean and maintain vehicles, equipment, warehouse, and office areas, as needed. 

Must be a certified asbestos worker through the State of Wisconsin Department of Health

Results Expected: Processes are performed according to guidelines and work orders. Communications to crew chief and customers are timely. Jobs are completed at or beyond customer expectations. Vehicles, equipment, and facilities remain clean, orderly, and working properly.

1. Communication with supervisor:  

  1. Notify crew chief of customer needs and concerns. 
  • Communicate with crew chief regarding customer needs and successfully meet those needs.  
  • Report any complaints about the performance of services. 
  • Communicate with crew chief any changes or discoveries made during the work process.

2. Production: Production Processes and Jobsite Support

  1. Perform production processes following company and State regulated production guidelines per work order per crew chief directions. 
  2. Inventory and load the work vehicle with equipment, products, and supplies needed for jobs.  
  3. Set up staging area and equipment for each job.  
  4. Prepare rooms for cleaning and/or abatement processes.  
  5. Follow guidelines for all production processes.  
  6. Assist the crew chief and other production personnel.  
  7. Perform end-of-job/end-of-day cleanup and breakdown. 
  8. Leave jobsite with a clean and orderly appearance. 
    • Show respect for customer’s home/property. 

 

  1. Follow company uniform policy. 
  2. Develop expertise in services, cleaning products, and equipment. 
    • Participate in training activities on a regular basis.  
    • Enroll in all relevant training programs and achieve all relevant production certifications. 
    • Read equipment and product directions and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to learn correct usage and application.  
    • Learn how to properly operate equipment by reading owner’s manuals and from training with other team members.  

3. Human Resources: Communication 

  1. Ensure clear two-way communication with co-workers. 
  • Each team member has a responsibility to communicate in a timely, honest, and clear manner. 
  • Using proper communications with team members is vital to team results. 

4. Production: Maintenance and Equipment Repair  

  1. Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, and clean equipment appearance. 
    • Clean and decontaminate equipment regularly.  
    • Inspect equipment for damage.  
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly vehicle maintenance checklists and equipment maintenance checklists, as assigned. 
  2. Clean and maintain facilities.  
    • Clean and maintain the warehouse, office, and grounds, as assigned. 

5. Executive: Safety and Risk Management  

  1. Attend safety training as required. 
  2. Understand and follow safety and risk management guidelines on the jobsite, in the office, and while traveling. 
  3. Comply with safety policies as outlined in the company employee handbook.  
  4. Utilize cleaning products, mechanical equipment, and personal protective equipment properly.  
  5. Maintain a clean, safe work area.  
  6. Report injuries and safety hazards quickly to your supervisor.  
  7. Participate in annual physical and health care assessments as required
  8. Complete and maintain annual certification through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

6. Additional: Other Duties, as Assigned 

  1. Take ownership of Roles and Responsibilities.  
    • Team members should take ownership of their job responsibilities. Identifying ways to be more efficient is also an important part of this position. 
  2. Handle recurring and unique tasks, as necessary.

Asbestos Supervisor

Primary Role: This person is Wisconsin State certified and trained to conduct or oversee a regulated asbestos abatement activity, or function as an air sampling professional, and has the authority to require changes in performance practices or to halt a project.

 

Manage and complete jobs according to Umbrella Environmental processes per work order in addition to following all regulations as implemented by government agenccies.  Set up and establish efficient job flow, coordinate requirements for the job, complete job documentation, perform and supervise production work, and monitor assigned jobs from start to finish. Follow and enforce all safety procedures on the job site. Resolve problems quickly as they arise. Monitor all assigned jobs to ensure customer needs are met. Communicate and establish relationships with commercial, insurance, and residential customers when needed. Clean and maintain vehicles, equipment, warehouse, and office areas.  Will follow all safety and regulated guidelines at all times and will set an example for subordinates and other peers.  Will be the primary contact if/when a State or government inspector shows up.

 

Results Expected: Production processes are performed according to production guidelines. Job documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Production costs are maintained at the established rate. Will ensure that communications to the Operations Manager, General Manager or Owner, as appropriate, and customer are timely. Jobs are completed, either meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Vehicles, equipment, and facilities remain clean and orderly.

1. Customer Satisfaction 

    • Monitor, communicate, and respond to customer needs.
    • Discuss expectations, requirements, and changes with the Operations Manager and/or customers. 
    • Communicate with customer on job progress and concerns. 
    • Document customer concerns and/or complaints and resolve in a timely and professional manner after discussing with the Operations Manager or Owner.  
    • Document damage caused by production crew and discuss agreeable settlement with the Operations Manager prior to presenting solution to customer.
    • Identify activities for incremental improvement and discuss with the Operations Manager.

2. Production Crew and Job Management

      1. Oversee jobsite management.
        • Ensure all personnel reports to jobsite as scheduled. 
        • Coordinate production and assign tasks to technicians.
        • Confirm that staging area and equipment for each job are set up properly. 
        • Confirm rooms are prepared for production processes. 
        • Ensure that all production processes follow production guidelines per work order and are performed as scheduled.
        • Ensure that quality control is maintained. 
        • Make certain that end-of-job/end-of-day cleanup and breakdown has been performed.
        • Perform a final walk-through with customers at job completion. Re-service jobs as requested by Project Manager.
      2. Perform production processes as scheduled.
      3. Supervise technicians.
        • Ensure technicians understand and follow rules for behavior and performance on the job. 
        • Assign tasks to technicians and manage workflow and task completion. 
        • Ensure production technicians complete all jobs according to regulated guidelines and with excellent customer service.
        • Ensure production technicians are following and using all required personal protective equipment as required per job.
      4. Manage job file documentation.
        • Review customer applicable documentation for the job with the customer and obtain required authorizations. 
        • Confirm accuracy of scopes or estimates made by others. 
        • Complete all documentation for job files. 
      5. Coach and train technicians.
        • Train technicians on production processes, equipment maintenance, and customer relations. 
        • Assist technicians in seeking all relevant certifications. 
        • Model professional behavior and customer relations skills.

3. Jobsite/Employee Appearance

      1. Make sure jobsite is left with a clean and orderly appearance.
        • Ensure that crew shows respect for customer’s home/property.
      2. Make sure employees follow Umbrella Environmental’s uniform policy.

4. Human Resources: Communication Management 

    1. Ensure clear two-way communication with Operations Manager.
      • Keep Operations Manager informed of job progress and issues.
    2. Ensure clear two-way communication with office staff.
      • Keep office staff informed of job progress and issues.
    3. Ensure clear two-way communication with technicians.
      • Ensure the professional conduct of each technician on crew, making sure conduct is supportive of the growth and development of the technician.
    4. Communicate clear expectations to technicians.
      • Keep technicians informed of job progress and issues.

5. Professional and Personal Development

      1. Continue development of production skills and expertise of services, cleaning products/chemicals and equipment.
        • Participate in training activities on a regular basis.
        • Participate in annual health care assessment requirements
        • Complete and maintain annual certification through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
        • Complete all relevant training programs and achieve all relevant certifications.
        • Know equipment and product directions.
        • Know Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure proper usage and application.
        • Know how to properly operate equipment from reading owner’s manuals and training with other team members.

6. Financial and Equipment/Asset Management 

      1. Manage and control costs of production jobs.
        • All company expenses must be documented and within budget, as set forth by Owner.  All expenses outside of the budget must have prior approval of the Operations Manager and/or Owner. 
        • Make sure production costs are maintained at the established rate, as set forth by Owners.
      2. Manage equipment and materials (assets).
        • Protect and utilize equipment and materials, ensuring company property is utilized efficiently and effectively.
        • Ensure that technicians are cleaning and maintaining vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
        • Complete periodic inventory of equipment and supplies, as directed.Manage equipment and materials (assets).

7. Maintenance and Equipment Repair

      1. Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment. 
        • Ensure vehicles and equipment are in excellent operational condition and maintain a professional appearance.
      2. Report on all non-operational equipment.
      3. Oversee facility maintenance.

8. Safety and Risk Compliance/Management

      1. Understand and see that all personnel follow safety and risk management guidelines on the jobsite, in the office, and while traveling.
        • Maintain a clean, safe work area. 
        • Comply with all company safety policies. 
        • Utilize cleaning products, mechanical equipment, and personal protective equipment properly. 
        • Ensure that all personnel wear appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures. 
      2. Attend safety training.

Necessary Experience and Skill Set

  • Solid organization and planning capabilities, strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including proper pronunciation, grammar, and a consistently courteous and professional tone of voice at all times
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Ability to use computers and/or tablets or iPads
  • Ability to be available as needed during the week and occasionally on weekends
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Experience in customer service industry environment a plus
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check subject to applicable law
  • Must have a current Wisconsin Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Subject to passing a drug test and future random drug tests
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (ie. respirator and full body suit) for up to 8 hours per day.  

 

Formal Education/Training

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Certified Asbestos supervisor (obtained through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services).  The individual has completed required training under the DH 159.12 within the past 12 months.
  • The individual is 18 years of age or older.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This is both a physical and sedentary role in various working environments and while driving a company vehicle.  

Normal Working Hours, Additional Working Hours and Travel Requirements

This is a position working primarily 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may require longer hours, and some flexibility in hours may be needed dependent upon the business needs.
